Free Discord Application Bot: What You Get Without Paying

Mico's free plan takes unlimited applications with AI scoring included. What is free, what paid plans add, how the Premium trial works, when free is enough.

"Free" on Discord bots often means a trial with a countdown, or a free tier so thin it only exists to sell the paid one. This page lists what Mico's free plan actually does, what you would pay for, and the two ways to get Premium for a while without paying.

We do not put numbers in this article on purpose. Limits and prices change, and the pricing page reads them live from the bot, so it is always the current answer.

What does the free plan include?

The whole flow, from Apply to a decision:

Free plan

Applications
Unlimited, on every plan
Panels
A small number, each with its own questions, channel and reviewers
Questions
Text questions, required or optional, with a minimum and maximum length
Where people apply
In DMs one question at a time, or on the website through the panel's View Online button
Review
Each application posted to your review channel with Accept, Deny, a staff thread and a text file of the full answers
AI scoring
A quality score, a "looks AI-written" score and a short reason, for a set number of applications a month
Automatic decisions
Accept or deny by score, if you turn it on
Roles
A reviewer role per panel, and a role to give or remove on accept or deny
Who can apply
A minimum number of days in the server
Tidy-up
Unfinished applications close by themselves after the hours you set
Setup
/setup makes the channels, a reviewer role and a starter panel in one go
AI panel creator
Describe your server, get a draft panel, a few times a month

Two things to know about the free plan:

  • The Mico watermark. Free panels and messages carry a small Mico footer. Paid plans remove it.
  • When the AI scores run out, applications keep arriving. They land in the review channel without a score until the next month, and nothing is decided automatically in the meantime.

For most small servers running occasional staff or whitelist rounds, that is enough to never pay. If you want to see how it is set up end to end, the staff application bot guide walks through it.

What do the paid plans add?

Premium and Pro raise the numbers (panels, questions per panel, roles, AI scores a month, longer answers) and switch on features the free plan does not have:

Premium and Pro

  • Your own accept, deny and submitted messages
  • Your colours, images, footer and button text on the panel
  • Opening hours, and a cap on how many people a panel accepts
  • Required and blocked roles, and roles pinged on a new application
  • A cooldown before someone can apply again
  • The applicant's earlier applications during review
  • A webhook on submit, accept and deny
  • Advanced analytics in the dashboard

Free

  • Mico's standard messages
  • Mico's design, with the watermark
  • Always open, no cap
  • Minimum days in the server only
  • No cooldown
  • Each application on its own
  • No webhook
  • Not included

Pro adds whitelabel on top: the bot's name, avatar, bio and banner in your server can be your own. It also comes with priority support.

Answers are also kept longer on the paid plans before only the record of an application remains. The details are on the pricing page and in the privacy policy.

How does the free Premium trial work?

A server earns a free Premium trial the first time it posts a panel. That can be the starter panel from /setup, a panel posted from /panel, or one posted from the dashboard.

  • Once per server, ever. Removing and re-adding Mico does not reset it.
  • No card, nothing to cancel. It ends by itself and the server goes back to Free.
  • Whoever posted the panel gets a message when it starts, a reminder near the end, and a note when it ends saying what turned off.
  • A server that already pays does not use it up. It keeps the trial for later.

The trial length is on the pricing page.

Can you earn Premium time by voting?

Yes, if your server is on the free plan or on free time. Vote for Mico on a bot listing site and you get a spin of the wheel on the vote page. Every spin wins some hours of Premium for a server you are a member of.

  • Hours stack after any free time the server already has, such as a trial.
  • There is a weekly cap per server, so it is a top-up, not a way around paying.
  • A server that pays for a plan has no wheel, because it already has Premium.

The /vote command in Discord shows where to vote and what the server has left this week.

When is the free plan enough?

Free is enough when

  • You run one or two kinds of application, like staff and whitelist
  • Rounds are occasional and a person reads every application anyway
  • Mico's standard accept and deny messages are fine
  • The watermark does not bother you

Consider paying when

  • You need opening hours or a cap for a busy launch
  • Only members with a certain role should be able to apply
  • More applications arrive in a month than your free AI scores cover
  • You want the decision messages in your own words
  • You need applications sent to another tool by webhook

A sensible path: start on Free, post your first panel, and use the trial to see whether any paid feature actually matters to you. If none does, stay on Free. For a look at how other bots handle free plans, see the best Discord application bots compared.

What does Mico not do on any plan?

Paying does not change these, so it is worth knowing before you choose:

  • Questions are text only. No multiple choice, dropdowns or file uploads.
  • Every applicant needs a Discord account, also on the website.
  • It is an application bot only: no tickets, no moderation.
  • It does not add people to a game server whitelist directly. It gives a Discord role, which many game servers can read.
  • The bot's own messages are in English.

Frequently asked questions

Yes. The free plan has no time limit and needs no card. It takes unlimited applications, scores a set number of them with AI each month, and covers the full apply and review flow. The paid plans add more AI scores, more panels and roles, and features like custom messages and opening hours.

No. Every plan, the free one included, takes unlimited applications. What the free plan limits is how many of them get an AI score each month, plus panels, questions per panel and roles. The exact numbers are on the pricing page.

Post your first panel. A server gets a free Premium trial the first time it posts a panel, from /setup, /panel or the dashboard. It is once per server, needs no card and ends by itself, so there is nothing to cancel.

Yes, on servers that do not pay for a plan. Every vote for Mico on a listing site gives a spin of the wheel on our vote page, and every spin wins some hours of Premium for a server you are a member of, up to a weekly cap per server.

Yes. A whitelist panel works the same as a staff one: members apply, your team accepts or denies, and Mico can give the whitelist role on accept. Opening hours and a cap on how many people a panel accepts are paid features, which matter most in a busy launch week.

See it on your own server.

Add Mico free, run /setup, and the next application arrives scored, in its own review channel.

Free plan, unlimited applications. New servers get Premium free for 14 days with their first posted panel. No card.
