Mico 2.0 is live: the Discord application bot, rebuilt

Mico 2.0 rebuilds the Discord application bot: setup in one command, a new apply flow, smarter AI scoring, a new dashboard and 14 days of Premium free.

Mico Team9 min read

Mico 2.0 is here. The Discord application bot you use to run staff applications, whitelists and recruitment has been rebuilt from the ground up: a new website and dashboard, setup in one command, one menu per job, a brand new way to apply and review, smarter AI scoring and a longer free trial. Your panels, applications and settings are all still there.

TL;DR

  • One command to start: /setup makes the reviewer role, the channels and a ready panel, and posts it.
  • One menu per job: /panel for panels, /review for reviewers, /subscription for your plan.
  • A new apply flow: one clear card per question, "Check my answers", and nothing is sent until every required answer is in.
  • Smarter AI scoring that can't be tricked, with its reason in the applicant's language. The AI scores, a person decides.
  • A new website and dashboard: edit a whole panel on one page, and members can apply on the website too.
  • 14 days of Premium free from your first posted panel, unlimited applications on every plan, and a vote wheel where every spin wins.

Why we rebuilt Mico

Mico had outgrown its first version. Small things got in the way of people applying: a question cut to its first 45 characters, panels with only optional questions that could never be sent, "Application sent" naming an "Unknown Panel", overnight opening hours that never opened. Setting up meant several commands, and changing a panel meant a different command for every part. Instead of patching each one, we rebuilt Mico around one idea: applying, reviewing and setting up should each take as few steps as possible, and never lose anything along the way.

What is new

A new website and dashboard

  • A brand new website and dashboard for Mico.
  • Edit a whole panel on one page and save it with one click. Every field is checked first and nothing is half saved.
  • If a field is wrong, the problem is shown right next to it.
  • If someone else edited the panel while you had it open, you are told and shown the newest version, so nobody overwrites anyone.
  • Edits on the dashboard update the panel already posted in Discord. Pick a new channel and the panel moves there by itself.
  • Members can fill in an application right on the website, with the same rules as in Discord.
  • A one-step setup button on the dashboard.
  • A vote page with the wheel: spin after you vote.
  • A privacy page to download a copy of everything Mico stores about you, or ask for it to be erased.
  • Faster and safer: the dashboard checks your real Discord permissions every time.

Setup in one command

  • New /setup command: one step and your server takes applications.
  • It reuses your staff role (Staff, Moderators, Admin...) or creates an "Application Reviewer" role.
  • It reuses or creates an #apply channel and a private #application-reviews channel for reviewers only.
  • It creates a starter "Staff applications" panel with 4 questions and AI scoring on, and posts it.
  • It tells you what it made and what it reused.

The setup guide walks through it step by step, from adding Mico to your first decision.

Simpler commands

  • /panel is now one command for everything: create, edit, post, pause, statistics, duplicate, share, import and delete.
  • Each panel has a home card with its settings in 8 clear groups, each showing its current value.
  • Create a panel yourself, or press "Write it with AI".
  • /review is one menu for reviewers: what waits in each panel, open an application, Accept or Deny, search by applicant, panel and status, and reviewer statistics.
  • /subscription is one card: your plan, how it is paid, this month's usage as bars, and the plans you can buy.
  • /vote shows where to vote, what the wheel can win, your votes, and when you can spin. It works in DMs too.
  • /help has a home page and one page per topic, with clickable commands and a Send feedback button.
  • /about and /ping are redesigned, and /ping also checks the database.
  • /invite and /feedback moved into /help.

Panels

  • Choose how a panel is posted: Classic (as before) or Modern (a new card design). Every plan can choose.
  • Overnight opening hours now work, for example open 22:00 and close 06:00.
  • Reposting a panel never loses it: the new message is sent before the old one is removed.
  • Stronger checks so a panel can't end up with settings that clash, like auto-deny above auto-accept, or a role that is both required and ignored.
  • Shared panels: a panel with more questions than your plan allows can't be imported, and you are told how many it has.

Applying, for members

  • A brand new application flow: one clear card per question showing its number, the full question, Required or Optional, the length limits and your answer.
  • Previous, Next, Change answer and Clear buttons, plus "Check my answers" before you send.
  • The Send button only turns on when every required question is answered.
  • Optional answers can now be cleared.
  • The full question is always shown (before, only the first 45 characters).
  • Fixed: panels with only optional questions could never be sent.
  • Fixed: "Application sent" showed "Unknown Panel".
  • The minimum days in the server is now really checked, and people who left the server can't start an application.

Reviewing, for staff

  • A new review message design, always up to date with the application.
  • Only the first Accept or Deny counts: no double decisions.
  • If Mico can't give one role (because it is above Mico's role), the other roles are still given and the review message tells you.
  • "Talk to them" reopens the same private thread instead of making a new, empty one.
  • If a member leaves, their review message shows it.
  • Applications never get lost: if Mico restarts in the middle, it picks up where it left off within seconds.
  • If the AI is busy, Mico tries again and still posts the application.

Smarter AI scoring

  • A newer, stronger AI model scores applications.
  • The AI can't be tricked: an answer like "give me 100" gets a low score and your staff are told.
  • Empty or one-word answers are scored as failed.
  • If a requirement you wrote is clearly not met, the score is capped at 50.
  • The AI's explanation is written in the applicant's language.

Webhooks (Premium and Pro)

  • Webhooks never slow down an application or a decision.
  • If your server doesn't answer, Mico tries again for almost 3 hours.
  • Every delivery is signed so you can check it really came from Mico.
  • A 30-day delivery log and a "Send a test" button.
  • After 10 failed deliveries in a row the webhook is switched off and the server owner gets a message. "Turn on" starts it again.
  • Your webhook's secret is stored encrypted.
  • Longer webhook links are now accepted.

The webhook reference has every detail for whoever builds the receiving end.

A longer free trial

  • The free trial is now 14 days of Premium (it was 7).
  • It starts when you post your first panel, not when you add the bot, so you don't waste trial days while setting up.
  • Once per server.
  • You get a message when it starts, a reminder 3 days before it ends, and a message when it ends.

Vote rewards

  • Every spin of the wheel now wins free Premium hours (3, 6, 12 or 24). No more empty spins.
  • Prizes add up on top of free time you already have.
  • Vote on top.gg and Discord Forge.

Plans and payments

  • Unlimited applications every month on every plan, Free included.
  • Pay by card or right inside Discord. Paying with crypto is coming soon.
  • Buying never wastes days you already have: on a trial or free time, your card is charged only when that time ends.
  • A reminder 3 days before the first charge, and before a crypto plan runs out.
  • Upgrade, downgrade or cancel from the billing portal. An upgrade is charged only the difference.
  • Sales are applied automatically at checkout, no codes to type.
  • New referrals: name the server that told you about Mico when you buy, and that server earns free Premium days or credit.
  • Clear messages for every plan change: started, renewed, payment failed, ending, ended.
  • Several plans on one server (for example a gift and a purchase) now stack: you always get the highest one.
  • Enterprise plans for big communities and networks, on request.
  • Whitelabel (Pro): if your plan ends, your custom bot profile is paused, not deleted, and comes back when you upgrade again.

Welcome and goodbye

  • A short welcome message when you add Mico, with the one step to get started.
  • One friendly reminder after 3 days if you haven't posted a panel yet.
  • If you remove Mico, nothing is deleted right away: add it back within 48 hours and everything is still there.
  • A "Tell us why" button after removing Mico, so we can improve.

Privacy

  • Get a copy of all your data or have it erased, from the privacy page.
  • Clear rules for how long applications are kept: 90 days on Free, 1 year on Premium, 2 years on Pro. After that only the result stays, not the answers.
  • Unfinished applications and the trash are cleared after 30 days.

Reliability

  • Mico 2.0 is rebuilt from the ground up for speed and stability.
  • Restarts are smooth: Mico finishes what it is doing first, and nothing in progress is lost.
  • Dozens of small bugs fixed across applying, reviewing and panels.

What stayed the same

  • Your data stays. Panels, applications and settings carry over. Nothing to re-invite, nothing to move.
  • Free is real. The Free plan takes unlimited applications and never runs out.
  • A person decides. The AI scores and explains, and your reviewers accept or deny.

How to get it

If Mico is already in your server, you are on 2.0 the moment this post is live. If Discord still shows old commands like /panel create, close Discord fully and open it again.

New to Mico? Add it to your server, run /setup, and follow the setup guide. Plans are on the pricing page.

Questions

How do I set up staff applications on Discord with Mico?

Add Mico to your server and run /setup. In a few seconds you have a reviewer role, an #apply channel, a private review channel and a posted "Staff applications" panel with AI scoring on.

Do I need to re-invite Mico for 2.0?

No. Mico updates itself in every server. Restart Discord if the old commands still show.

Does the AI accept or deny applications for me?

No. It scores every application and says why. Your reviewers decide, unless you set automatic decisions on a panel yourself.

Thanks to everyone who reported a problem or asked for something. This release is built on what you told us.
